All prospective patients meet with Deborah Smith, COMT, BSBA, a refractive surgery coordinator, at their initial office visit. Deborah conducts preliminary vision screening tests, including: acuities, lensometry, refractometry, corneal topography and pachymetry to determine if the patient meets the specific criteria for refractive surgery.

The doctors examine their patients at the second visit, the pre-operative evaluation, to ensure the patient is a candidate for a favorable refractive surgery outcome. Only those patients who are expected to have an excellent outcome are advised to have surgery. At this visit, the doctors review the risks and benefits of the procedeure and allocate ample time to answer questions and address concerns.
